Hesed
חֶסֶד
“Kindness or lovingkindness”
Summary
Father of one of Solomon's twelve commissary officers who supplied provisions for the royal household.
☩Identity
Hesed is known only as the father of Ben-Hesed (literally 'son of Hesed'), who was Solomon's purveyor in the district of Aruboth, Sochoh, and Hepher (1 Kings 4:10). His name, meaning 'kindness' or 'lovingkindness' (the same word used for God's covenant love), may have been given as a testimony to divine favor.
