Dodavah
דּוֹדָוָהוּ/DOD-uh-vah/
“Beloved of Yahweh”
Summary
An inhabitant of Mareshah whose son Eliezer prophesied against King Jehoshaphat's alliance with Ahaziah.
☩The Prophecy
Dodavah was from Mareshah in Judah, and his son Eliezer delivered a prophecy against Jehoshaphat. When Jehoshaphat allied with the wicked Ahaziah of Israel to build ships for trade with Tarshish at Ezion-geber, Eliezer declared: 'Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the Lord hath broken thy works.' The ships were wrecked and never completed their voyage, fulfilling the prophetic warning against unequal yokes with the ungodly.
