Summary
A Jewish sorcerer and false prophet, also called Elymas, who opposed Paul and Barnabas on Cyprus and was struck blind.
☩Opposition to the Gospel
Bar-Jesus was attached to the court of Sergius Paulus, the proconsul of Cyprus, and sought to prevent the governor from hearing the gospel. When Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, confronted him as a 'son of the devil,' Elymas was struck with temporary blindness. Witnessing this, the proconsul believed.
