Summary

A paralytic man at Lydda who had been bedridden for eight years and was miraculously healed by Peter, an event that led many in the surrounding region to turn to the Lord.

The Healing

Aeneas was a paralytic who dwelt in Lydda (also called Lod), a town on the plain of Sharon about ten miles southeast of Joppa. He had been confined to his bed for eight years when Peter visited the Christians who had fled there after the persecution that scattered the Jerusalem church. Peter said to him, 'Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; rise and make your bed.' And immediately he arose.

The Result

The healing of Aeneas had a remarkable evangelistic impact on the region. All who dwelt in Lydda and the plain of Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. This miracle, along with the raising of Tabitha at nearby Joppa, demonstrated that the power of Jesus continued to work through His apostles and prepared the way for the further expansion of the gospel.
