Plummet

/PLUM-it/

Summary

A plummet was a weight used with a line to test vertical alignment, symbolizing God's standard of judgment.

Building Tool

The plummet (or plumb bob) was a weight attached to a cord used by builders to ensure walls were perfectly vertical. Zechariah's vision shows the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel as he rebuilds the temple. The same instrument that guided construction would test whether the work was true.
