The Naphtuhim were among the peoples descended from Mizraim, the progenitor of the Egyptians. Their precise identification is uncertain. Some scholars have connected them with inhabitants of the Nile Delta region; others have suggested they were people of Middle or Lower Egypt. The name may mean 'those of the Delta' or be connected with the Egyptian goddess Nephthys.
