Biblical Examples

Several biblical leaders practiced nepotism by placing relatives in positions of authority. Joseph settled his father and brothers in the best of the land of Egypt and provided for them. Saul appointed his cousin Abner as commander of his army. David made his nephew Joab commander of his forces and later appointed his nephew Amasa to replace him. Nehemiah put his brother Hanani in charge of Jerusalem along with Hananiah.
