Silla

/SIL-uh/

Summary

An otherwise unknown location mentioned in connection with the assassination of King Joash of Judah.

Location

Silla is mentioned only once in Scripture, in connection with the murder of King Joash. The text states he was killed 'at the house of Millo, on the way that goeth down to Silla.' Wherever Beth-millo stood, Silla was evidently in the valley below it, but nothing is known of what it was or where it stood. Some have suggested a connection with the pool of Siloam, but this remains conjecture.
