Makaz
מָקַץ/MAY-kaz/
“Boundary or end”
Summary
Makaz was a town in the second administrative district of Solomon's kingdom, under the oversight of the commissariat officer Ben-Dekar.
☩Location
Makaz is mentioned only once in Scripture, as the first of four places defining the jurisdiction of Ben-Dekar, one of Solomon's twelve commissariat officers responsible for supplying provisions to the royal court. The associated towns—Shaalbim, Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan—suggest a location on the border of Dan, possibly in the plain east of Ekron. The exact site has not been identified.
