Gebim appears in Isaiah's vivid description of the Assyrian army's terrifying advance toward Jerusalem. The prophet pictures its inhabitants fleeing as the enemy approaches from the north, passing through Aiath, Michmash, and other towns before reaching Nob, from which they could see the city of David. The name means 'cisterns' or 'ditches.'
