Caves or hidden places used for refuge, both by animals and by people fleeing from enemies or divine judgment.

Places of Refuge

Israel hid in dens and caves from the Midianites. Elijah fled to a cave on Horeb. The heroes of faith 'wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.' In the last days, people will hide in dens and rocks, calling for mountains to fall on them.
