A fortified city of Judah in the Shephelah near which Joshua defeated the five Amorite kings.

Battle Site

Azekah was a city in the lowland of Judah where Joshua pursued the five Amorite kings after their defeat at Gibeon. God cast great hailstones upon the fleeing enemy as they descended from Beth-horon to Azekah. The city was later fortified by Rehoboam and was one of the last cities standing when Nebuchadnezzar invaded Judah.
