Assyrian Colony

Ava (also called Ivvah or Avva) was one of the cities from which the king of Assyria brought colonists to repopulate Samaria after deporting the Israelites. These colonists brought their own gods and made idols called Nibhaz and Tartak. The location is uncertain but was likely in Syria or Mesopotamia.
