Shimeah was one of David's older brothers and the father of Jonathan (who killed a Philistine giant) and Jonadab (the crafty adviser of Amnon). He is also called Shammah, Shimea, and Shimma in various passages—all variant spellings of the same name.

Descendant of Jehiel

Another Shimeah was a descendant of Jehiel, the founder of Gibeon, and a son of Mikloth. In a parallel passage (1 Chronicles 9:38) he is called Shimeam.
