Summary
A name borne by several Old Testament figures, including a son of David, two Levites, and David's brother (also called Shammah).
☩David's Brother
One Shimea (also spelled Shimeah) was David's older brother, the father of Jonathan and Jonadab. This same person is called Shammah in 1 Samuel 16:9 and Shimma in 1 Chronicles 2:13. He should not be confused with Shammua, David's son by Bathsheba.
