Shammoth

שַׁמּוֹת/SHAM-oth/

Desolation

Summary

One of David's mighty warriors, called 'the Harorite,' apparently the same person known also as Shammah the Harodite.

Identity

Shammoth 'the Harorite' was one of David's elite warriors listed among his mighty men. He appears to be the same person called 'Shammah the Harodite' in a parallel list, with the name variations being textual differences. He may also be identical with 'Shamhuth' who commanded the division for the fifth month under David's military organization.
