Sadoc appears in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus as the son (or great-grandson) of Azor and the father of Achim. He lived around 220-280 BC, during the intertestamental period between the Old and New Testaments. As a descendant of Zerubbabel, he was part of the royal line of David through which the Messiah would come.

The name Sadoc also appears in the apocryphal books as an ancestor of Ezra, corresponding to the high priest Zadok mentioned in Ezra 7:2.
