Raamiah

רַעַמְיָה/ray-ah-MY-ah/

Thunder of Jehovah

Summary

Raamiah was one of the chief Israelites who returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel, also called Reelaiah in the parallel passage.

Return from Exile

Raamiah was one of the leading men who returned with Zerubbabel from the Babylonian captivity. His name appears in the list of Nehemiah 7:7. In the parallel list in Ezra 2:2, where the same group is named, he is called Reelaiah, which is likely a textual variation of the same name. Both forms share the same root meaning, with Raamiah meaning 'thunder of Jehovah.'
