Parshandatha

/par-SHAN-duh-thuh/

Summary

Parshandatha was the eldest of Haman's ten sons who were killed by the Jews in Shushan during the events described in the book of Esther.

Death in Shushan

Parshandatha is listed first among the ten sons of Haman, the Agagite, who were slain by the Jews in Shushan (Esther 9:7). After Haman's plot to destroy the Jewish people was exposed and he was hanged, the Jews were given permission to defend themselves against their enemies. On the appointed day, they killed five hundred men in the citadel of Shushan, including all ten of Haman's sons. Their bodies were subsequently hanged on the gallows that Haman had prepared for Mordecai.
