Naphish was the eleventh son of Ishmael and ancestor of an Arab tribe that fought against the tribes of Israel east of the Jordan.

Identity and Descendants

Naphish was one of the twelve sons of Ishmael listed in Genesis. His descendants formed a tribe that settled east of the Jordan. The tribe of Naphish was among those defeated by the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, who took their cattle and captives.
