☩Genealogy
Malchiel was one of two sons of Beriah, who was himself a son of Asher, making Malchiel a great-grandson of Jacob. He accompanied Jacob's family when they migrated to Egypt. His descendants, called Malchielites, formed one of the clans of the tribe of Asher. According to Chronicles, he was the 'father' (probably meaning founder) of Birzavith, possibly a place or clan.
