Jeremai was one of the 'sons' of Hashum who divorced his Gentile wife after the return from Babylon in compliance with Ezra's reform around 459 BC (Ezra 10:33). He was among the laity, not the priests or Levites, who had intermarried with the peoples of the surrounding nations.
