Summary

An Israelite of the family of Hashum who divorced his foreign wife after the return from Babylon.

Identity

Jeremai was one of the 'sons' of Hashum who divorced his Gentile wife after the return from Babylon in compliance with Ezra's reform around 459 BC (Ezra 10:33). He was among the laity, not the priests or Levites, who had intermarried with the peoples of the surrounding nations.
