Jaasiel
יִעֲשַׂיאֵל/jay-AY-see-el/
“Made by God or whom God comforts”
Summary
A warrior in David's bodyguard, also identified as the son of Abner and a tribal prince of Benjamin.
☩Identity
Jaasiel (also spelled Jasiel) was a Mezobaite who served as one of David's mighty men in his bodyguard. He is probably the same person as Jaasiel son of Abner, who served as the tribal prince over Benjamin during David's reign. His connection to Abner, Saul's famous general, would have given him significant standing among the Benjamites.
