Summary

A Philistine giant who nearly killed David in battle before Abishai rescued the king.

The Incident

Ishbi-benob was one of the sons of the giant (descendants of Rapha) among the Philistines. His spear's head weighed three hundred shekels of bronze, and he was armed with a new sword. When David grew faint in battle, Ishbi-benob sought to kill him, but Abishai came to David's aid and slew the giant. After this, David's men swore he would not go out to battle anymore.
