David's Warrior

Gareb the Ithrite was one of David's thirty mighty men, an elite group of warriors renowned for their valor. As an Ithrite, he was likely from one of the families of Kiriath-jearim. His name, possibly meaning 'scabby,' appears in both lists of David's heroes.

The Hill of Gareb

Jeremiah prophesied that the rebuilt Jerusalem would extend to the hill of Gareb and then turn to Goah. This hill was apparently on the northwest side of Jerusalem, outside the ancient walls. Some suggest the name derives from its association with lepers, who were kept outside the city.
