Esrom is the Greek form of the Hebrew name Hezron, who was the son of Perez and grandson of Judah. He appears in both New Testament genealogies of Jesus as an ancestor through whom the line of promise continued from Judah through David to Christ. In the Old Testament, Hezron was the founder of the Hezronite clan and ancestor of important families in Judah including the line of David.
