A son of Elimelech and Naomi who married the Moabite woman Orpah and died in the land of Moab during the period of the judges.

Family History

Chilion was one of two sons of Elimelech and Naomi who traveled with their parents from Bethlehem to Moab to escape a famine. Both brothers married Moabite women—Chilion married Orpah and his brother Mahlon married Ruth. Both brothers died in Moab within ten years, leaving no children.
