As a personal name, Allon was a chief in the tribe of Simeon, an ancestor of Ziza who was a prince in Simeon's tribe during King Hezekiah's reign. The name also appears as Allon-bachuth ('oak of weeping'), the place near Bethel where Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, was buried.
