Adalia

Summary

One of the ten sons of Haman who was killed by the Jews in Shushan under the decree of King Ahasuerus.

Identity

Adalia was the fifth of Haman's ten sons. When the Jews were permitted by the king's decree to defend themselves against their enemies, all ten sons of Haman were killed in Shushan, the capital city. Their bodies were later hanged publicly at Queen Esther's request.

Significance

The death of Haman's sons fulfilled the complete reversal of his evil plot. He who had planned to destroy all Jews saw his own family destroyed instead, illustrating the biblical principle that those who dig a pit for others will fall into it themselves.
