Cud
/KUD/
Summary
Food that ruminant animals bring back from the stomach to chew again, used as one criterion for determining clean animals.
☩Dietary Law
Under Mosaic law, animals that both chewed the cud and had divided hooves were clean and could be eaten. Animals that did only one or neither were unclean. This criterion distinguished cattle, sheep, and deer as clean from pigs and camels as unclean.
