Paul taught that the strong should bear with the weaknesses of the weak, not pleasing themselves. Believers are to be patient and gentle with all. However, this does not extend to tolerating false doctrine or gross sin. Christ commended the Ephesian church for testing false apostles but rebuked them for losing their first love. Balance between grace and truth reflects Christ's own character.
