Shilonite
Summary
A title denoting either an inhabitant of Shiloh (applied to the prophet Ahijah) or a descendant of Shelah son of Judah.
☩Native of Shiloh
The term 'Shilonite' is used as a title for Ahijah, the prophet who foretold to Jeroboam the division of the kingdom after Solomon's death. That Ahijah was a resident of Shiloh is confirmed by the fact that Jeroboam's wife later went to seek him at Shiloh when their son was sick.
☩Descendants of Shelah
In genealogical lists of Judah, 'Shilonite' appears to designate descendants of Shelah, the youngest son of Judah. This family is mentioned among those dwelling in Jerusalem after the exile. They are the same as those called 'Shelanites' in Numbers 26:20. The change from 'Shelanite' to 'Shilonite' parallels the change in the name Siloam (Shelach in Nehemiah, Shiloach in Isaiah).
