Many items for the tabernacle were specifically commanded to be of beaten work rather than cast in molds. The cherubim and mercy seat were to be hammered from one piece of gold. The golden lampstand with its branches, cups, and flowers was entirely of beaten work, demonstrating skilled craftsmanship.
