Amnesty

/AM-nes-tee/

Summary

The granting of pardon or forgiveness, particularly of offenses, which in Scripture reflects God's gracious willingness to forgive sins.

Divine Pardon

Several Hebrew words express the concept of pardon: kaphar ('to cover,' same as 'to make atonement'), nasa ('to lift up'), salach ('to pass over,' used only of God's forgiveness), and ratsah ('to delight in'). God pardons freely, readily, and abundantly. While human pardon simply remits penalty, divine pardon through Christ includes justification and blessing.
