Summary
A town in the Shephelah of Judah mentioned by the prophet Micah in his lament over the cities of Judah.
☩Location
Zaanan was a town in the lowland of Judah, mentioned in Micah's prophetic wordplay against the cities of Judah. The prophet declared that the inhabitants of Zaanan 'came not forth,' playing on the similarity of the town's name to the Hebrew word for 'go out.' It may be identical with Zenan mentioned in Joshua 15:37.
