Helbah

חֶלְבָּה/HEL-buh/

Fatness or fertility

Summary

Helbah was a town in the territory of Asher from which the Canaanite inhabitants were not expelled during the conquest.

Unconquered Town

Helbah is mentioned among the towns of Asher from which the Israelites failed to drive out the Canaanites, listed between Achzib and Aphik. The name means "fatness" or "fertile," possibly indicating its location in the rich valley of the Kishon near the Phoenician plain. It should not be confused with Ahlab, also mentioned in the same verse.
