Gath Hepher

☩Location and Significance
Gath-hepher was a town on the border of Zebulun in Galilee, identified as the birthplace of the prophet Jonah. Eusebius and Jerome located it about two miles from Sepphoris on the road to Tiberias, where Jonah's tomb was still shown in their day. The site is identified with el-Meshhad, where a Muslim shrine to Jonah still exists.
