En-mishpat ('fountain of judgment') was the earlier name for Kadesh or Kadesh-barnea, an important site on the southern border of the promised land. It is mentioned in the account of Chedorlaomer's campaign against the cities of the plain, when the kings attacked the Amalekites and Amorites before being defeated by Abraham in pursuit of Lot.
