Beth car
בֵּית כָּר/beth-KAR/
“House of the lamb, or house of pasture”
Summary
A place west of Mizpah to which the Israelites pursued the Philistines after their victory at Ebenezer.
☩Philistine Defeat
Beth-car was the point to which the Israelites pursued the Philistines after Samuel's sacrifice at Mizpah and the Lord's intervention with thunder against the enemy. The expression 'under Beth-car' suggests it was on a height, and below it Samuel set up the stone he called Ebenezer, saying 'Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.'
