☩Identity
Laadah was the second son of Shelah, who was himself a son of Judah by the Canaanite woman Bath-shua (1 Chronicles 4:21). He is described as the 'father' of Mareshah, a term indicating he was the founder or leading citizen of that city in the lowlands (Shephelah) of Judah. Mareshah later became an important fortress city, one of the cities fortified by Rehoboam (2 Chronicles 11:8).
