Jehoadah

יְהוֹעַדָּה/jeh-HOH-uh-duh/

Jehovah is his ornament, or whom Jehovah adorns

Summary

A descendant of Saul through Mephibosheth, son of Ahaz and father of Alemeth.

Identity

Jehoadah was the son of Ahaz and father of Alemeth and others in the line of descendants from Saul through Mephibosheth (1 Chronicles 8:36). In the parallel passage (1 Chronicles 9:42), the same person is called Jarah, which is probably a scribal error or variant form of the name. The genealogy traces the line of Saul's descendants after the main line of kings had ended.
