The head of the eighteenth course of priests established by David for service in the temple.

Identity

Aphses (more properly Pizzez) was the head of the eighteenth of the twenty-four sacerdotal families into which the priests were divided by David for the service of the temple. This system organized the temple priests into rotating courses of duty.
