Parlor
/PAR-ler/
Summary
A parlor in Scripture refers to a private inner room or upper chamber, often used for receiving guests or private retreat.
☩Types of Parlors
Three Hebrew words are translated 'parlor': cheder, an enclosed inner room; lishkah, a chamber in a courtyard; and aliyyah, an upper room on the roof. The 'summer parlor' where Eglon was killed was likely an upper chamber for enjoying cooler air and a view, kept strictly private with access from both the main building and exterior.
